Small is beautiful.

I've always taken a delight in watching the miracle of nature through
plant  life. There is a joy in seeing things grow and blossom in almost
imperceptible stages. Here on the terrace  though, growing and nurturing
is daunting, to put it mildly.

The terrace is exposed to the extremes of the Maltese climate!
So we have winds from all sides to batter relentlessly in winter
months, and just as the Spring settles into a more gentle
scene, along comes that intense summer heat, bent on shrivelling
every plant within sight.

Not to worry though----we persevere.

So however unimpressive it may seem when you place it next to a flourishing olive
grove, our little olive tree gives us pleasure.Infact
last year we were excited to count more than fifty olives!
So too with the fig tree.Joe found it because he knows
that for me it has a symbolism. It has seen some turbulent times this winter
but it has endured and continues to grow.

And then ofcourse there is the pomegranate tree. A gift from Ginny,
I love it and suffer with it as it struggles with those harsh
Northerlies. But you see here it is,welcoming Spring
and bringing us brightness.
Maybe this year if God is feeling very generous he will
see to it  that we are provided with even one, small, juicy fruit,
that golden apple of the sun---so full of goodness.

Whatever happens, I enjoy the experience! We
have learned to work within our limitations,be aware
of the conditions, but at the same time enjoy being adventurous
in a small way ,then----  just believe in miracles.
Maybe it's teaching us something,----I wonder?!
Mo.
